Introduction to Handguns – 4 Hours

“Getting Started the Right Way"

This class is designed for people with little to no knowledge of handguns or those who are years out of practice and want a good refresher course.  The first portion of the class will be in the classroom and will cover basic knowledge of handguns and ammunition and move into an in-depth discussion of safety.  We will then move to the range where the fundamentals of shooting will be demonstrated and practiced by the student using dry fire techniques.  The basics of stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, breath control and follow-through are emphasized to maximize your success from the first shot.  This is a 4 hour class and cost is $50.  Enrollment is required.

Oklahoma Handgun License  – 8 Hours

“Training Requirement for OK Concealed Carry Weapon Permit"

This course meets all training requirements in accordance with Title 21 Section 1290.1 et seg known as the "Oklahoma Self Defense Act".  This course will be held in Stillwater OK.  Group classes can be scheduled anywhere within the state of Oklahoma.

Why choose us for your training?  Because of that word - training.  You see, all instructors are required to use the state of Oklahoma approved curriculum and we are certainly no different.  We take the required information and put it into instruction and language you can understand.  We utilize experiences, scenarios, and "what-if" building exercises to allow our students to not just hear the law read from an instructor's book but to actually experience what the rules and regulations are all about.

We go beyond the required material and give our students a head start in concealed carry by going over additional subjects such as how to carry your concealed weapon effectively, the multitude of options available in holsters and other carry gear; handgun, caliber, ammunition selection and more.  You will have the opportunity for hands on knowledge that require most people years of trial and error to receive.  Our instructors truly care about the students and want you to leave the class with confidence, knowledge, and new abilities.  Upon completion, there's a good chance you will know more than many people who have been carrying for years.  In short, you will receive training.  This is an 8 hour class and cost is $60.  Enrollment is required.

Rental pistols are available for $20 and include ammunition.  We rent high quality, well-maintained .22 LR semi-automatics.  Please check the "Rental" box on your application if you need to rent a pistol.

Half Day CCW Classes – Total 8 hours

We understand your schedule is busy.  Between soccer games and dance recitals, its hard to squeeze in a Hangun License Class.  We have the answer.

We will be offering the opportunity to complete the Oklahoma Handgun License Class over a 2-day period.  Instead of devoting an entire Saturday to the class, you can now complete the required training during a Friday evening and a Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon - see schedule for specific dates.

You won't miss out on any of the high quality training, either.  We'll be presenting the exact same information as we do in our all-day class, just in a more convenient schedule for you.

Training Schedule:

• Friday - 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Please arrive 15 minutes early for registration)
• Saturday - 8:00 AM - Noon
• You do not need your firearms, ammunition, etc for the Friday evening portion.  Friday will be classroom work only.  There's a good chance we will complete the course work early on Friday evening and the class will be dismissed.  However, please plan on being at the classroom until as late as 10:00 PM.  Saturday, you will need to be prepared for the range.  We will take periodic breaks during both training days but there will be no extended meal breaks.

Handgun Self-Defense Class  – 8 Hours

"Learning to Use Your Handgun to Defend Your Life"

Congratulations, you have acquired your concealed carry permit or purchased a handgun and joined the ranks of thousands of other good citizens who take personal defense seriously!  However, obtaining your concealed carry permit or buying a gun is not the the end of your training, its just the beginning.  You will leave this Handgun Self-Defense course not only confident in the law, but also confident in your carry method and how to expertly deploy your weapon from that carry position, if need be.

Don't let your gun give you a false sense of security.  Having a firearm at hand may not be enough to save you in your most desperate hour without the training needed to use it in the most effective and efficient manner.  We will spend classroom and significant range time to give you the real world skills you need to be able to defend your life or that of your loved ones.  This is an 8 hour class and cost is $90.  Enrollment is required.

Basic Carbine Class – 8 Hours

"Learning to Use Your Carbine"



One of the hottest items in the gun market right now is the AR-15 platform type carbine.  So you saved up your money, did your research, and finally took home the perfect carbine for you.  Now that you have that carbine you have wanted for so long it could be useful to know how to effectively operate it, or maybe a refresher course for others.

Stillwater Armory is offering a carbine class for just that with a Basic Carbine Class 201.  This class will cover everything from safety, cleaning, and operation.  Safety is our main priority and is taught and practiced at all times with firearms.  The instructors will go into full detail into the maintenance and field stripping of an AR-15 platform.  Then we cover the different operating methods with magazine changes, shooting positions, and trigger control before heading to the range. 

After we cover the basics in the classroom (2 hours) we take it to the range to put rounds down range and do some hands on training (6 hours).  This is where we do a quick sight in period and begin the live fire portion of training with the skills taught in the classroom.  There will be an estimated 300 rounds fired as a minimum but is possible to shoot more if desired.

Survival Preparedness  – 8 Hours

 

For too long, the term "survivalists" has called to mind paranoid separatists or white supremacists who give up the conveniences of modern society, drop out of the government's databases and live in one-room backwoods cabins like the Unabomber.

The survivalists of today are much more likely to be gulf coast residents buying hurricane shutters a few months before the next hurricane season and preparing an evacuation plan, Californians preparing a small cache of food and water in anticipation of the next earthquake, or Okies getting ready for the next spring storm season.  This is not paranoia, its simply proper planning for a very real threat.

We will use classroom lecture, demonstrations, group projects, and hands-on learning experiences to prime your survival instincts.  We will NOT be teaching you how to overthrow the government or demand you develop and keep a year's worth of food on hand.  We will ask the tough questions to get you thinking about your level of preparedness and provide possible answers.

Using the Handgun at Night – Flashlight Techniques – 2+ Hours
Most deadly force encounters happen in low-light conditions.  This is why we consider a light to be the 2nd most valuable self-defense tool, right behind your handgun.  This class will be held late in the evening.

You will need a flashlight for this class.  We recommend a flashlight similar to the Surefire G2 LED, 6P LED, C2 LED, L4 LED or Streamlight Scorpion LED.  However, whatever flashlight you have and will use in daily life is what you should bring. If you do not have access to a flashlight, you can rent one of ours for $10 while taking this class.

 

 

This is a 2+ hour class and cost is $50.  Enrollment is required.

 

 In this class, you will learn:

• How to use your light in unison with your defensive handgun.
• How a light can save you in a dangerous situation.
• How a light can be a valuable safety tool in everyday life.
• Flashlight tactics and proper use.
• Using the flashlight as an impact weapon or force multiplier.
• Live-fire exercises in low/no light situations.

Moving Targets – 2 - 3 Hours
If you are ever involved in a defensive shooting, chances are your target won't be standing still.  You need to practice hitting a moving target.  Most of us are great shots when our target isn't moving...how many times have you tried to hit a moving target with your handgun?  This class will get you prepared!  This is also one of the most enjoyable classes to participate in and no, there won't be any bear cubs harmed in the class.

This is a 2 - 3 hour class and cost is $40.  Enrollment is required.

This class is all about range time.  Some of the drills we will practice include:

• Target Acquisition
• Progressing through multiple stationary targets in a line
• Hitting a slow moving lateral target
• Hitting a slow moving target coming directly at you
• Hitting a fast moving lateral target
• Hitting a fast moving target coming directly at you
• Drawing and hitting a target coming directly at you

Target Acquisition Skill Builder - 2 - 3 hours

 

Being able to hit your target in a precise and repeatable fashion is critical to your self-defense.  Do you have the skills necessary to put accurate shots on multiple targets quickly?  Through a specific set of drills and instruction, you can increase your effectiveness in a gun-fight, on the competition circuit, or just while plinking on the range.  This range-only class will build skill and confidence in ANY shooter, regardless of skill level.  Beginners through expert shooters will see their proficiency increase.  We will meet in our classroom facility and quickly head directly to the range.  This class will last between 2 - 3 hours and cost is $40.  Enrollment is required.

Private Handgun Instruction Skill Builder - 1 on 1 instruction in 30 minute blocks

Is there one particular skill set you are wanting to improve upon?  Many times a group class might spend a block of time on that skill set but then move on to another subject.  We want to help you in your shooting/self-defense skills no matter where you're at in your abilities.  Here are some examples of subject material YOU might choose to cover:

• Perhaps you are a newer shooter and just need some time at the range with an instructor going over stance, grip, sight alignment and trigger control.
• Maybe you've been shooting for a while and want to work on your draw techniques from a concealed holster or moving while shooting.
  
• Perhaps you're comfortable with your shooting skills but want a critical evaluation of what you're doing to take your skills to the next level.
• You might be an advanced shooter and just want to improve your accuracy and speed.
• You may need some guidance in the proper use of and shooting from behind cover.
  
• Maybe you don't know what you need to work on but you know you want to get better.  We can evaluate your current skill set and make quick decisions about what to focus on during your training session.
• Use your imagination and we will tailor the training to fit your needs.
• Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
  

That's right, its your choice as to what you want to work and improve upon.  Nothing is too basic or too advanced.  We will schedule you for blocks of instruction at 30 minute intervals (You can sign up for more than one 30 minute block).  During that time, you will receive 1 on 1 instruction.  By focusing exclusively on a single shooter and only on specific skill sets, you can advance further in 30 minutes than you might be able to in an entire afternoon.  This is your chance to take a big step forward with private, student focused instruction.

Equipment required for this class will vary based on the focus of the training but could include:

• Your handgun (Required)
• 100 rounds of ammo/30 minute block of instruction (Recommended)
• Hearing & Eye Protection (Required)
• A baseball style cap (Required)
• Holster
• Extra Magazines
• Other Depending on Training
